A consortium led by JERA, including Green Power Investment and Tohoku Electric Power, has won work on a 615 MW offshore wind project in the Sea of Japan off the coast of Aomori Prefecture.
The venture will be managed by the Tsugaru Offshore Energy Community, a business entity formed by the three consortium members.
The offshore farm, scheduled to start operations in June 2030, will feature 41 Siemens Gamesa SG-DD236 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW.
In a separate development under the same tender, BP and its consortium partners—Tokyo Gas, Marubeni Corporation, Kansai Electric Power, and Marutaka Corporation—have been selected to build a 450 MW offshore wind farm near Yuza Town. This project is scheduled to begin operations in June 2030.
