Vestas wins 26MW order for wind power project in Italy in 2025

• Vestas secures a 26 MW order for the Valico Casone Cocca wind project in Italy.
• Commissioning is scheduled for early 2026. 
• This follows an 81 MW order from Edison Renovabili for the wind park repowering in Abruzzo in 2024. 
• More than 5.2 GW of Vestas turbines have been installed since 1991.

Italian renewable producer Edison Renovabili awarded Vestas an 81 MW order in March 2024 for the repowering of the Royo del Sangro, Monteferrante Guado, Monteferrante Casone and Montazzoli wind parks in Abruzzo, Italy. The contract includes the supply and installation of 18 V136-4.5 MW wind turbines and a 10-year operation and maintenance service agreement.

On December 31, Vestas, a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, announced another new order for 26 MW from Alerion San Marco for the Valico Casone Cocca wind project in Italy, which will be commissioned in early 2025, on its official website. The project features three V150-6.0 MW turbines and two V117-4.2 MW turbines, accounting for a capacity of 26 MW.

Like the previous order, the project includes supply, installation, and an extensive 10-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service agreement, ensuring optimal performance and long-term reliability of the wind farm.

As with the previous order, turbine delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2025, followed by commissioning in the final quarter of the same year. The turbines are scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025, and commissioning is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

This project represents another significant step in Vestas’ dedication to driving the growth of renewable energy in Italy and supporting the country’s clean energy transition. These initiatives reinforce Vestas’ leadership in the Italian wind energy sector. Since 1991, Vestas has installed more than 5.2 GW of wind power in Italy.
