Ørsted delivered the 920 MW Greater Changhua 2B and 4 offshore wind farms in June 2018. Later in July 2020, the company signed a 20-year fixed-price corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with a corporate customer for the full production of these wind farms.

Per Mejnart Christensen, President of Ørsted’s Region APAC
, said:

“The commencement of offshore construction for Greater Changhua 2B and 4 demonstrates Ørsted’s unwavering commitment to developing, building and operating large-scale offshore wind farms in Taiwan.”

He added:

"As the first offshore wind farms in Taiwan supported by the CPPA, they not only reflect the confidence of our customers and the market in Ørsted's industry-leading technical expertise and experience, but also set an important benchmark for long-term partnerships between businesses and the renewable energy sector.
This milestone highlights the important role of offshore wind in building a low-carbon economy."

Since the final investment decision was made in March 2023, Ørsted has been manufacturing key components, completing the construction of the onshore substation and preparing the vessels for offshore construction.

This two offshore wind farms are expected to complete offshore installation by the end of 2025 and connected with the grid connection in 2026. Once operation stats, Ørsted's total offshore wind capacity in Taiwan will reach approximately 2 gigawatts - enough to power two million Taiwanese households with clean energy.

Facts About Greater Changhua 2b & 4 Offshore Wind Farms
